Restoring our Northern Rivers
Freshwater ecosystems | Land Restoration | Education
Where there is fresh water, there is life. At Flo Gardens we restore our freshwater ecosystems through creeks, streams and natural pools.
Our freshwater ecosystems and rainforests are key to our survival.
Freshwater ecosystems, such as ponds, wetlands, rivers, and lakes, are some of the most biologically diverse habitats on Earth, but they are also the most threatened.
Rainforest habitat is not only vital for wildlife but their restoration is one of our best natural defenses against climate change
Land clearing for farming and development has destroyed 99% of the rainforest in the Northern Rivers remains

Education
Flo Gardens is committed to mentoring our customers on their journey to restoring their land.
We conduct regular workshops in local rainforests and freshwater ecosystems to enable you to learn the fundamentals of their natural ecology.
We have a 6 acre property at Sleepy Hollow which was previously cleared farmland. We are restoring this land back to its natural state complete with rainforest regen, freshwater swim ponds, creeks, waterfalls and wetlands plus food forest, aquaponics and natural play spaces for kids. We also have a native plant nursery and native fish hatchery to support client projects. Sleepy Hollow is our learning HQ and education centre for client mentoring
Our goal is to reconnect our clients back to nature. By sharing knowledge about freshwater ecology and rainforest land restoration we can work together to restore your property back to how it once was.
What is a natural pool?
A Flo Garden natural pool is a freshwater ecosystem replicating our local rainforest swimming holes, creeks and streams. A way healthier swimming pool option than a chlorinated pool. Its also a new home for endangered endemic fish species, native plants and local wildlife, whose ecosystems are threatened by continual development.
An incredible sanctuary place for your family and friends to swim and connect to the natural environment and each other.

What is land restoration?
The vast majority of the native rainforest in the the northern rivers was cleared for farming and development. This has been a significant factor in flooding due to increased run off. It has also contributed to climate change and increased temperatures and humidity. Making the land we live on less habitable for us and for local wildlife.
Our freshwater eco systems have also suffered. The water that starts from the hills and mountains flows through these cleared land spaces before reaching our creeks, rivers and oceans.
Flo Gardens offers a holistic land restoration program that aims to bring the land back to its original state by restoring ponds, streams, wetlands and waterfalls. And regenerating the land with endemic rainforest and non-invasive native plants. Providing habitat for hundreds of endangered species.
